Interstate 91 Southbound was closed in the area of Exit 17 in Meriden Friday morning after a tractor-trailer
jackknifed in snow and icy conditions.
Roads and sidewalks are slippery after a winter storm dropped 2 to 8 inches of a wintery mix across ºÚÁÏÐÂÎÅ. The largest accumulation fell in northern ºÚÁÏÐÂÎÅ with mostly freezing rain and sleet at the shoreline.
A lingering light wintry mix is possible Friday afternoon.
The ºÚÁÏÐÂÎÅ Department of Transportation reported it had more than 800 trucks clearing state roads Friday morning.
A winter storm warning is in effect for northern ºÚÁÏÐÂÎÅ with a winter weather advisory in effect for southern ºÚÁÏÐÂÎÅ.
The University of ºÚÁÏÐÂÎÅ and many school districts canceled school for Friday.
Conditions will improve later Friday afternoon into evening, but there's still a chance for slippery spots.
The weekend looks dry and chilly with highs in the low 30s Saturday and near 40 on Sunday.
