Alison Bechdel is a popular American cartoonist. She鈥檚 best known for her graphic memoir 鈥淔un Home: A Family Tragicomic,鈥� which was later adapted into a Tony Award-winning musical. She鈥檚 also a recipient of the MacArthur 鈥淕enius鈥� Grant. The Vermont resident's new graphic memoir, 鈥�,鈥� is about exercise and the new fitness trends Bechdel picks up with each decade 鈥� from running to yoga to skiing. But it's also about transcending. She pushes to excel as an athlete, cartoonist and partner. And she tries to find a way past her ego and fear of death.

Bechdel says the secret to "superhuman strength" is living in the present moment.

鈥淪top suffering and whining and just do it,鈥� Bechdel told .

In a recent interview, Bechdel talks about her life, new memoir and why she chose New England as home.
